Have you been concerned by the recent cervical smear controversy? If you have any concerns over a previous smear, you are invited to make a free appointment to discuss this with your GP and we can provide you with a free repeat smear if necessary. Please contact reception at the Grange Clinic Donaghmede at 01-8480033 or email email@example.com and ask for your free smear consultation with a Grange Clinic GP.
A cervical smear is used to detect potentially precancerous and cancerous cells in the cervix and can increase your chances of preventing cancer if any abnormal cells are removed efficiently. Although the condition mainly affects sexually active women between the ages of 30 to 45, cervical cancer can occur in women of all ages.
Having a cervical screening in our clinic in Donaghmede is a comfortable, confidential and intimate process. One of our GPs will carry out the test alone, but should you require a chaperone this can be arranged for you. The screening consists of inserting a speculum into your vagina which holds the walls open so that the cervix can be seen. A soft brush will be used to carefully collect cells from the surface of the cervix which are then sent off for analysis.
If you have any questions or queries about our cervical smear tests, make sure to get in touch with a member of our team today.
